The People of Pinnacle Point / 2013
SOLD Original $2,200 / Acrylic on canvas / 24" x 36" / Prints available. Description: People have inhabited Pinnacle Point of Mossel Bay, South Africa, for over 160K years. Archaeologists have recently unearthed remarkable clues about the cave-dwelling people that left behind evidence of a flourishing lifestyle derived from the marine life of this southern coastline. Pinnacle Point is still a popular spot for humans, now sporting luxury golf courses and beautiful modern homes atop the ancient cliffs. But I chose to depicted the Pinnacle Point of the very distant past when the fire-lit caves of our early ancestors glowed some 75,000 years ago and the subtle starlight of the Milky Way sparkled against the darkest of skies of a summer night. © Copyright 2013 Lucy West / All Rights Reserved.
