The Last Steps / 2017
SOLD / Original $2,200 / 30" x 24" acrylic on canvas. Apollo Astronaut Eugene Cernan Tribute. Honoring the memory of the last man to walk on the lunar surface, a collage of icon and historic images convey the final moments of the Apollo 17 mission. In the foreground Commander Eugene Cernan poses during the 3rd and final EVA while astronaut-scientist Jack Schmidtt is seen reflected in his visor. The textured backdrop records the tracks left by the crew during the entire mission across Taurus Littro region. Bounding toward the Lunar Module, Commander Cernan?s footprints mark the final steps of this remarkable era of America?s golden age of space exploration.
